Dr. Janez Šušteršič is Associate Professor of economics at Faculty of Management, University of Primorska in Koper. He was director of the Institute of Macroeconomic Analysis and Development (IMAD) of the Slovenian government from 2001 to 2007. He also vice-chaired the government’s Refoms Committe and served as the national Lisbon Strategy co-ordinator. From 2005 to 2007 he was also vice-chairman of the Economic Policy Committee to the ECOFIN.
He was born in Ljubljana in 1966. He studied economics at the University of Ljubljana and obtained a doctorate in the political economy of transition. He also visited the Zürich University and co-authored articles published in Public Choice, Post-Communist Economies and Acta Oeconomica. He was one of the initiators of the international Institutions in Transition conference and one of the founding members of the Slovenian Macro-Economic Forum (SMF).
