After completing his PhD in Economics at the University of Sheffield, Kevin Dowd moved to Canada and began work as an Economic Policy Analyst for the Ontario Economic Council in Toronto. He went back to the University of Sheffield in 1986 and worked as a Research Officer and a Lecturer. Dowd also lectured at the University of Nottingham, before becoming a Professor of Economy at Sheffield. He has published a wide range of articles which have analysed topics such as pensions, insurance and longevity risk; risk management; monetary and macroeconomics, free banking, central banking and financial regulation. He is currently a Professor of Financial Risk Management at the Centre for Risk and Insurance Studies in Nottingham.
