Peter Kopecky is currently the Assistant Director in the Institute of the European Studies and International Relations in the Faculty of Economics and Social Science, Komensky University, Bratislava.
In 1983 Peter Kopecky became the Director of the Tourism Department at ?edok in Bratislava. He held this position until 1987 where he moved to Bucharest to become the Director at ?edok Representation.
After moving back to Bratislava in 1990, Kopecky became the Chief of French Language Section at the Linguistic Center of Komensky and the University Rector. In 1995 Kopecsky establishes his own Slovakian-Romanian company in Bucharest.From 1997 until 2002 Peter Kopecky was the Slovakian Ambassador to Romania and the Republic of Moldova.Kopecky received his Bachelor Degree in French and Romanian Language at the University of Bratislava. He also holds a PhD in Romanic languages, gained from the University of Bratislava. In 1980 he was admitted to the History Institute at the Slovakian Academy of Science with the Thesis "Romania at the crossroad 1944- 1947." With the same Thesis he obtained a PhD in History from the University of Brno.Peter Kopecky is a deputy of the municipality (2002-2006), a member of many scientific councils as well as an authorized translator of Romanian and French language. He has been awarded the "Ordinal National Pentru Merit in gradul de Mare Cruce" (a Romanian decoration) given by the Romanian Presidency.
