Jens-Peter Bonde was born March 27, 1948. He has been a Member of the European Parliament since 1979.
Bonde was elected for Danish JuneMovement, a Eurosceptical organisation which represents all political perspectives. The movement's name derives from the June 1992 Danish referendum on the Maastricht Treaty. Jens-Peter Bonde was one of the main organizer of the Danish "No-campaign", advocating voting against the Maastricht Treaty in 1992. The majority of Danes did vote no, and this changed the European project and brought increased openness and democracy to the top of the political agenda in many EU countries.
