Prof. Karl Albrecht Schachtschneider

From 1969 until 1980 Karl Albrecht Schachtschneider practised law in Berlin. Between 1972 and 1978 he was also a Professor for Commercial Law at the University of Applied Economics in Berlin, and then between 1978 and 1989 he was Professor at the University of Hamburg. Since 1989 Karl Albrecht Schachtschneider holds the Chair for Public Law at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, there he was Dean of the Faculty for Commercial and Social Science from 1992 to 1995.
On behalf of Peter Gauweiler in 2005 Schachtschneider filed a complaint about an infringement of rights under the German Constitution by the agreement law of the Treaty on the European Constitution from 29th October 2004 (a agreement law is the way the community law is implemented in the German judicial system). Earlier he made complaint about an infringement on the constitutional cause of the approval law to the Maastricht Treaty (1992/1993) and also on the introduction of the Euro in 1998.
His fields of work are liberty, law and state theory (from an Kantian point of view); constitutional, administrative and commercial rights; European constitutional and commercial law; world commercial law; social legislation, law of state-owned enterprises; money and currency law; media law and taxation law.
Karl Albrecht Schachtschneider studied law in Berlin, Bonn and Tübingen. In 1969 he gain his doctorate at the Freie Universität Berlin.
